In addition to sponsoring the youth Summer Reading Program, OLIS supports adult programs that encourage adults to explore new genres, pursue new interests, and model lifelong learning and reading to children and teens. OLIS is a member of the iREAD Reading Program, a flexible, nonprofit reading program designed by librarians featuring compelling and adaptable themes, and a comprehensive resource guide chock full of ideas and reproducibles.
Adult services librarians may wish to explore the other pages in this LibGuide, especially the Themed Resourcespage for additional resources!

Read Beyond the Beaten Path combines camp, adventure, and skill development. Summer camp at the library can encompass many different summer experiences:
• Outdoors: hiking, campfires, stories, and s’mores
• Animal identification
• Arts and crafts
• Talent shows
• Earning badges
STEM is very easy to work into this theme because of its nature and outdoor aspects but you can also have space camp and math camp and science camp. Those would be additional badges.
If you’re not planning to offer an Adult Summer Reading Program, WHY NOT? Adults are people, too, and having a Summer Reading Program is a great way to show them your library cares. Did you know participants in Adult Summer Reading Programs:
Have families who also participate?
Are looking for ways to stay active and involved?
Become library advocates?
VOTE for Library funding?

This on-demand webinar is designed to teach participants how to administer Project Outcome surveys to measure outcomes for their library’s summer reading program. By successfully administering surveys, libraries are able to use the results to showcase program successes and influence future summer reading programs. Hear from one Project Outcome participant who successfully surveyed their summer reading program in 2015 and learned valuable lessons from the process. There is also a Q&A and discussion segment where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with their peers.
