Resources to support library staff's work with homeless patrons, including referral and resources to facilitate interpersonal interactions.

Veterans Administration (VA)

National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877-424-3838) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Veterans talk privately with a trained VA counselor for free. Female veterans should ask for the Women Veterans Program Manager.

Rhode Island VA medical centers are staffed with social workers who can help.

Homeless Veterans Crisis Chat

Veterans in crisis, or anyone concerned about a veteran in crisis, can connect with qualified Veterans Crisis Line responders for free, anonymous and confidential help. Many of the responders are veterans.

This service is private, free, and available 24/7. The Veterans Crisis Line is available to anyone, even if the person is not registered with VA or enrolled in VA health care.
