Serving Homeless Individuals and Families in Libraries: Home

Resources to support library staff's work with homeless patrons, including referral and resources to facilitate interpersonal interactions.

Introduction to Serving Homeless Individuals and Families in the Library

The LibGuide is not meant to address all library concerns or needs for serving homeless patrons. It provides some basic information to assist library staff, including:

1) a bibliography so library staff can re-imagine their work with the homeless in the context of libraries nationally;

2) referral resources for assisting Rhode Island homeless individuals and families with finding services;

3) information about a guide that specifically assists librarians’ in their interpersonal encounters with the homeless; and

4) some national resources for information about homelessness and national networks for referral.
